How it works

Review, answer, setup, support.

Four steps. You can stop after the second one, and plenty of people do.

  1. Review

Send us your most recent processing statement. Two or three months is better if your sales swing with the season. We read every line, including the ones in small print on the back page.

  2. Answer

You get a written answer: what you pay now, your real rate, what you’d pay on Square or Clover, and the difference per month. We also check your contract for an early termination fee. If staying put is cheaper, that’s the answer.

  3. Setup

If you decide to switch, we help you order the right hardware, load your items and prices, set up staff logins, run a test sale, and show your staff how to use it. We plan the cutover around your slow hours.

  4. Local support

After you’re running, you still have us. Questions about a deposit, a new reader, or a fee that showed up on next month’s statement come to the same person who set you up.

Step one

What to send

The monthly statement from whoever processes your cards. It usually comes as a PDF by email or sits in your processor’s online portal. A clear phone photo of a paper statement works too.

We don’t need your bank account number. Feel free to cover it before you send.

Not taking cards yet? Skip the statement. Tell us what you sell and roughly how much, and we’ll start from there.

Step two

What the written answer covers

  • Your effective rate. Total fees divided by card sales, the one number that lets you compare offers.
  • Each fee, named. Interchange, card brand fees, processor markup, and any extras like PCI non-compliance, monthly minimums, statement fees or a lease.
  • Which fees are fixed, negotiable or avoidable. So you know where the money actually is.
  • Square and Clover, priced for your mix. Using your own card types and ticket sizes, not an average.
  • The cost of leaving. Early termination fee and remaining lease payments, included in the comparison.
  • A recommendation. Stay, switch to Square, or switch to Clover, with the reason.

Questions

Common questions

What does the review cost?

Nothing. When a business signs up through us, the payment company may pay us a referral fee. You never pay us for the review.

Do I have to switch?

No. Plenty of reviews end with “keep what you have.” You still walk away knowing what every fee on your statement means.

How long does it take?

Usually a few business days from when we receive the statement. If your statement is unusual, we’ll tell you when to expect the answer.

What if I’m in a contract?

We look for an early termination fee before we suggest anything, and we include it in the comparison. Sometimes the right move is to wait until the contract ends.

Do you only work in San Antonio?

No. We’re based in San Antonio and work with businesses anywhere in the US. Local businesses can get in-person setup. Everyone else gets it over phone and video.

Who will I be talking to?

Jason Yahner, who owns Sundial Pay. There’s no call center.

Last month’s statement is enough.

A PDF or a phone photo works. Or call 210-872-0594.
